Hi, I’m Michelle Zenarosa!
I’m a storyteller who works with publications, schools, organizations, and other media makers to tell stories that help shift culture and make change in the world. After almost two decades of producing media and live events, I know firsthand the power of storytelling can have on communities, as forces of change and engagement. In my work, I have always been committed to empowering and equipping other media makers, particularly the youth and Black, Indigenous and people of color, with the tools to tell effective, compelling and nuanced stories about their own communities.
I have written, edited and produced for local and independent and larger media companies-- reaching more than 4 million viewers, including Fusion, LA Weekly, PBS, etc. In 2008, I was named the Howards Simons Fellow at The Washington Post in 2008 and the Society of Features Journalists diversity fellow in 2017. In addition to my extensive journalism experience, I’m an educator, events producer and trained cook.
I hold a bachelors in print journalism and a certificate in peace studies from Cal State Long Beach and a masters in public affairs journalism from University of Maryland, College Park.
